Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver is now streaming on Netflix! Following our stellar collaboration on Part One, our VFX artists, producers and technologists jumped back into Zack Snyder’s hyperkinetic space opera. Our work across the second instalment included the complexities of the Nemesis’ robotic arms and a thrilling sword-fighting spectacle. VFX courtesy of our MTL team, led by VFX Supervisor Bob Winter.
A final look at IF
Last week we saw a range of IFs unveiled via a series of new character posters, along with a final trailer. The film features incredible work from our VisDev, FPS, LDN, MTL and MUM teams, with the work led by Production VFX Supervisor, Chris Lawrence and Production Animation Director, Arslan Elver. The film releases on 17th May – mark it in your diaries!

Crack Open Civil War
Civil War led the weekend box office and marked A24’s biggest opening . The fantastic work by the teams in MUM and LDN, led by Production VFX Supervisor, David Simpson, has since been praised by the NY Times, GQ, and Art of VFX, with deep dives on the end sequence taking place in Washington D.C.
Animation World Network on Appa
This week Avatar: The Last Airbender’s director, executive producer and VFX Supervisor, Jabbar Raisani spoke to Animation World Network exploring the show’s 3,400 visual effects shots. He shared the brilliant work of our teams in NY and LDN on creating Appa and Momo, praising the emotional beats they created with the characters.

A new piece from VFX Voice shines a light on a range of roles and specialisms across the VFX industry that maybe don’t get the love they deserve. We were pleased as punch to see two of our talented artists featured: Jeremie Lodomez, Global Head of 2D β Film & Episodic and Visualisation Supervisor Maike Fiene.

βThe Greatest Show on Earthβ, crafted by our London team has been shortlisted in the compositing category at the AICP awards. Congratulations to the team on their ongoing recognition for this work and fingers crossed for another award for the shelf!

EmPower in LDN
EmPower held another event in our LDN studio in association with Company 3 and Lemonade Reps, with an amazing turnout of women in the advertising industry to hear from President of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership), Nisha Patel Robb as she discussed menopause and wellbeing in the workplace.
Students in MTL
In MTL this week, we were thrilled to welcome Synthese. 15 VFX and animation students were excited to explore our studio and learn more about this wonderful industry!
AICP Curatorial Committee in NY
This past week our NY office had the pleasure of hosting the AICP Curatorial Committee. The Curatorial Committees review all of the category Shortlists and determine the winners while looking at the award show as a whole entity, as well as appropriateness to category. This year, our Creative Director, Vicky Osborn, serves on the committee for the Post Awards.

SXSW Sydney Panel Picker
Voting is open for SXSW Sydney PanelPicker and we have two submissions that need your votes! The Women in VFX and Animation: Making the Unreal Real panel includes our very own Head of Studio in MEL, Lara Hopkins. Lara will be joined by Nerissa Kavanagh from Studio Blackbird, Barbara Stephen from Flying Bark Production, and Alexandra Daunt Watney from MPC Adelaide.
You can also vote for Creative Technologist, Johannes Saam workshop Generative AI and the Future of Content Creation. The workshop will explore cutting-edge tools for digital content creation using generative AI. Discover the evolution of generative AI, delve into style transfer, text-to-image synthesis, and other awe-inspiring techniques.

Company 3 Visit to LDN
Jimi Vaughn, SVP, Global HR & DEI from Company 3 visited Chancery Lane this week. This was his first time visiting the LDN based Company 3 team and Jimi also spent time with some of his Framestore HR and Recruitment colleagues including Amy Smith and Katy Edwards.
Visiting Melbourne
COO Film & Episodic, Lucy Killick recently wrapped up her two-week visit to our MEL studio, where she dove headfirst into our team culture, indulged in local delights, caught the iconic Melbourne tram and delved into the heart of our operations. Lucy shared some of the knowledge and experience she’s gained in her career to date, from working in production to becoming COO. She emphasised the significance of effective communication, fostering connections, and nurturing studio growth. With her parting words echoing ‘Limit the Variables,’ Lucy has left an indelible mark, inspiring us to embrace clarity and focus as we forge ahead.
Official Framesquad Line-Up
We are happy to announce this year’s Framesquad lineup for the summer league! The practice remains every Wednesday as usual and is open to all, we are a lot of fun we promise, The league will start in early May at the Fabrik8 rooftop ( more info to come on the exact schedule) and we would love to have supporters come and cheer for us again this year π You make all the difference!

Team Celebrations in MTL
In our studio in MTL, two of our teams organised a gathering to celebrate their achievement on their projects! After working really hard on their project, it was time to relax and celebrate their well-deserved success!
Football League
It was a really feisty and aggressive game from both teams last night. Framestore almost recorded their first win of the league, scoring in the last 5 minutes of the game. But with OOU not giving up, they managed to nick a goal at the very last minute. Making it one a piece. Still a very good result for the team, now we move onto our next game against ILM in 2 weeks.

Drawing Club in MTL
Last Tuesday the MTL Drawing club met up to draw amazing stuff around a Costco cake. Join the drawing club for cool nights like these!
