The week we peek at FLITE (12.5.23)

FLITE Trailer

The trailer for Tim Webber’s directorial debut, FLITE, was released this week via The Hollywood Reporter. The short film is set in a futuristic London, and explores the underground practice of memory visualization. Film festival submissions have already begun, with FLITE in competition at BAFTA qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival and Oscar qualifying ANIMATOR in Poland. Best of luck to Tim, Theo Jones, Simon Whalley and the rest of the Framestore crew.

Paddington Faces the Public Vote

Tune into the BAFTA TV Awards this Sunday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, where Paddington at the Palace is up for the P&O Award for most memorable moment. It’s the only award of the evening that’s voted for by the public, so keep everything crossed for our loveable bear.

A Quick Dip Under the Sea

Following the premiere of The Little Mermaid this week, Disney released this exclusive clip of Under the Sea. Early reviews for the film describe it as “Disney’s best ever live action film” and “a tribute to all little girls to dream big”.

Laying New Foundations

Apple has officially announced that Foundation season 2 will be released on July 14th. Along with this exciting news, they have also released a captivating new trailer showcasing the groundbreaking work of our teams.

Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. The series stars Emmy-nominated actors Jared Harris and Lee Pace, alongside rising talents Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey.

Our talented teams of sci-fi enthusiasts in MTL and MUM, led by VFX Supervisor Laureline Silan, have created stunning creatures and breathtaking environments.

GEICO

Looks like the Gecko has finally met his match with none other than his longtime frenemy, Will Arnett. While this is the first time that GEICO has paired a celebrity with the Gecko, judging from their interactions, neither of them seem too thrilled about it. Our New York team brought the Gecko to life in all his VFX glory, via rigging, animation, lighting and compositing.

Who will come out on top in this battle to dominate the conversation?
