‘Good as Gold’ at Shelter for Christmas
Our LDN team led by Creative Director, Karmen Markov assembled to provide some impactful VFX work to support an important message for Shelter’s poignant Christmas campaign, ‘Good as Gold’.
Colourist, Simon Bourne from Company 3, collaborated with agency Don’t Panic and Director, Max Weiland for final colour which complimented the mood of the piece beautifully.
The ad was given pick of the day by David Reviews for the publicity and support the advert will lend the charity’s cause of ending homelessness.

A new poster for the sweetest film coming out this year has been released – Wonka hits the big screen in the US on Friday 15 December, (UK, Friday 8 December)!

The Fall Guy Exclusive First Look

LBB | ‘The Directors‘ – Jennifer Stafford
Framestore Pictures Director, Jennifer Stafford spoke with LBB for their “The Directors” series to discuss crafting the mood, why authenticity is a core pillar and the healthy push and pull between creativity and accountability.
“I come alive when making films about emotionally deep and nuanced characters. People that can depict a universality about the human condition. We live in such a divisive world, I love honing in on the elements that are tender, vivid and have a way of reflecting the viewer back to themselves,” Jennifer shares. Read the full interview.

We had the pleasure of working with Tomas Jonsgården and Magnis Åkerstedt on this new spot, ’Strategy To Win’ for Era of Conquest, which sees Benedict Cumberbatch go on quite the journey. The ad was given a mention by David Reviews this week saying it, “elevates our idea of what the advertised game might entail.” and giving the ad 5 stars.

Trieste Sci-Fi Awards
This weekend, the Trieste Science + Fiction Festival awarded CCO, Tim Webber the Golden Asteroid in recognition of his contribution to the science fiction genre. Tim picked up his Golden Asteroid while at the festival to present his short film, FLITE as part of the European Fantastic Shorts programme.

Young Arrows Awards Ceremony
VFX Coordinator, Chloe Dunn & Poppy Chadwick were nominated in the Post Production Producer category and placed in the top 6. Chloe, Helen Weil, Jake Saunders, Ben Stell alongside Edwin Elkington, Dom Phipps, and Chris Anthony from Company 3 all attended the event, celebrating emerging talent in the advertising industry in the UK.

SCAD Presentation
MTL‘s CG Supervisor, Kevin Sears gave a presentation of Framestore’s work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 to his alma mater, Savannah College of Art and Design earlier this week. He also sat alongside other alumni for a discussion on the industry and their career paths.

Halloween Costume Competition
Alongside the pumpkin competition this weekend, we had ghoulish costume competitions in our studios. From a super sweet performance from Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas to the best of Beetlejuice you will be able find photos of our winners below and the pictures of all participants on Flickr.

Departments all over the studios in MTL and VAN worked hard to personalise their workspaces. Xenomorphs, spiderwebs, and ghosts galore!







Halloween Quiz in MTL
Another Halloween, another quiz night ! The MTL team participated in a quiz night with great attendance despite the power outage that happened right before! SPOOKY! 👻 And who doesn’t like a little musical chair game with the Blade soundtrack?

LDN Terrifies at Lunch & Learn
This week in LDN, at their IA Halloween Lunch & Learn, introduced by Head of Production IA, Abby Orchard – Lucy Hare, Senior Producer and Jay Khan, VFX Supervisor talked about our work in the latest series of Black Mirror on Netflix. See some of our behind-the-scenes work and watch the Mazey Day trailer if you haven’t seen it yet.
Gabi Ruch Salmeron, Head of Creature FX (CFX) – IA, introduced the audience to some of the recent creatures we’re working on in IA and highlighted the wonderful contributions from across our Studios – a truly global team effort.
The Q&A and highlighted how film assets are used on IA projects.


Frankenstein: The Modern Bookclub
The MTL Book Club met for the first time on Halloween to discuss Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Next month, they’ll be reading The Queens of Animation: The Untold Story of the Women Who Transformed the World of Disney and Made Cinematic History by Nathalia Holt!

Ghoulish Ghost Tour 👻
On Halloween the haunting of Riverside Road took place, curated by two of our own Creative Directors, Gavin Fox and Jason Fox. Members of the public and some of our own braved this ghoulish ghost tour to raise money for Cancer Research UK. You can still help them reach their goal!
