A Second Chapter

Foundation Season 2 debuts on Apple TV today! Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.  Our FPS and VFX teams in MTL, LDN and MUM, have delivered an extensive array of complex work, spanning creature design, vast environments, monumental structures, infinite desert landscapes, crowd simulations, multiple universes, and thrilling space battles.

A Tasty Trailer

The first Wonka trailer has arrived ! Led by Production VFX Supervisor Graham Page, and featuring work from our concept art and FPS teams, alongside our VFX crews in LDN, MTL and MUM. The film promises a visual feast spanning delightful character design, sumptuous environments and eye-popping simulation work. Director Paul King raved to CBR about the VFX in the film.

London Turns Pink

This week saw a wave of pink as Barbie held its LDN premiere, following fabulous screenings in LA and Sydney. The unstoppable Barbie marketing team were at it again, turning notable landmarks pink in honour of the event, including a hot pink TARDIS on the banks of the Thames.

Warner Bros. also treated us to “I’m Just Ken”, the latest original song released from the official “Barbie” soundtrack, performed by Ryan Gosling. The soundtrack also features artists such as Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish. Barbie is set to hit the big screens next week, and we can’t wait!

Creative Circle Awards

Three Ireland’s ‘Jeff’s World’ has triumphed again, scooping Gold for ‘Best digital 3D animation CG in live action plates’  at the Creative Circle Awards!

Earlier in the day the Creative Circle 2023 New Creators Talent Awards took place with Nathan Clark, (Rigging Technical Director) winning ‘Most Promising CGI/VFX artist’.

Jessica Kersey-Preston (Animator), Chelsea Aston (Junior DMP Artist), and Jack Neale (Junior Nuke Compositor) were also recognised as Finalists in the category. Over at Company 3, Dominic Phipps took home the award for ‘Most Promising Colourist’. Congratulations to all our artists on these fantastic achievements!

Develop: Brighton

Principal Software Developer Will Myles delivered a talk at Develop:Brighton, highlighting the growing trend in using real-time engines as part of the filmmaking process, and explores the current applications for real-time engines in Virtual production. Well done, Will, Skye and Ellie!

BeYou Festival

LDN’s Simon Devereux and Vincent Aupetit attended the BeYou Festival with Access:VFX this week – Simon hosted a fireside chat with Vincent about all things FPS and pre-production.

Contagious x Cannes Lions

On Wednesday evening Contagious returned to Chancery Lane to host ‘Cannes Deconstructed’. The post-Cannes Live event, saw the team share their thoughts on what mattered most from this year’s festival of Creativity.

Sports Teams Hit a Home Run

MTL’s Framesquad brought victory home 44 -16 ! The team keeps getting better and learning how to play together. There are 3 games left in the league, and next week’s is going to be a tough one, so make sure to show your support!

LDN’s Flamestorm took on industry rivals as they played DNEG’s Double Sluggers. The game was tight all the way through, with Flamestorm starting their 7th inning 2 points behind at 20-22. The team rallied to win with a smashing final score of 28-24.

LaunchPad in MUM

Congratulations to our internal Roto to Paint launchpad in MUM! Run by Josh Barham, the scheme concludes this week and sees this lovely bunch graduate with an enhanced set of skills.

Sweet Treats in MTL

Last month’s bake sale brought in an astounding $1,460.00, with proceeds going to Les Productions Feux Sacrés, an organisation that helps finance Indigenous artists. Thank you to everyone who came and purchased one of the delicious offerings.

LDN Boule-d Over

The LDN DM team had their summer social last night and went to play Boules down on the Southbank – looks like a perfect summer evening!
