Events

FLITE Ignites a Win

FLITE won 2 awards at Ignite Film Festival, with VFX Supervisor Theo Jones collecting the gongs for ‘Score’ and ‘Post Production’. FLITE has been an exceptional collaborative effort as the team looked to reframe the way real-time technology is used as a filmmaking tool.  The production tested the limits of FUSE (Framestore Unreal Shot Engine), an animation and VFX pipeline with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine at its heart.

A huge cast of people were involved in the making of FLITE, often stepping up or taking on completely new roles for the first time.  On receipt of these awards we’d very much like to thank:

Ben Goodall – Sound Designer
Daphne Tychogiorgou – Editor
Diarmid Scrimshaw – Producer
Harry Escott – Composer
Jean-Clément Soret – Colourist
Simon Whalley – Producer
Theo Jones – VFX Supervisor
Tim Webber – Director

Tim Webber attended Animator Animation Festival in Poland (right), where FLITE was competing. Tim was part of the jury for the Polish animated short film competition and gave a talk to industry professionals and students as part of the Animator Pro track.

Nathan goes to NIFFF

Animation Supervisor Nathan McConnel (LDN) took to the stage at this year’s Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF for short) to discuss what went into breathing life into characters like Rocket Raccoon, Lylla, Teefs and Floor for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Hope you brought a pile of Swiss chocolate back with you Nathan!

Perspectives and EduSpark

MUM CG Supervisor, Prashant Nair, was part of Arena Animation’s Perspectives event this year, where he delivered an insightful talk about Breathing Life into Digital Characters and Creatures. Prashant also joined the panel of judges for the Live Student Showreel Review event at the EduSpark summit hosted by AnimationXpress.
