The week we go for gold (14.4.23)

The Second Star to the Right

Disney treated us to another look at Neverland this week, releasing a second trailer for Peter Pan & Wendy. Montreal and Mumbai have worked their VFX wizardry, led by VFX Supervisor Mark Curtis, to bring David Lowery’s vision to life. We’ll be taking a trip past the second star to the right and straight on to Disney+ when the film releases on 28th April.

Plus get to know Wendy herself, Ever Anderson, in this interview with the Evening Standard Magazine.

One Last Ride

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn shared a new tv spot promoting the third film. He also surprised some of the VFX crew with a Zoom call to thank everyone for their hard work, recognising the amazing contributions of all of our studios across MTL, LDN, VAN and MUM. A cosmic well-done to VFX Supervisors Stephane Naze, Ross McCabe, Alexis Wajsbrot and all who worked on the film.

Sky Stream- Pathway to Sky

To represent the freedom and ease of Sky’s new streaming box, obstacles such as cables, satellite dishes and paperwork are transformed into bursts of colourful dust particles in the Sky spectrum colours.

With approximately 5 weeks from edit lock to delivery, the campaign marks a continuation in Framestore’s long-standing relationship with Sky Creative. The spectrum burst was created in CG with the VFX complementing the in-camera practical effects.

Baristas, Bakes & Beverages in VAN

The VAN team has been been busy, organizing in-Studio Barista Training. Once participants have completed the training, they can finally use the new espresso machine and prepare their very own hand-crafted drinks. Looks like a latte fun!

The HODs also organized a team outing at the newly renovated Craft Beer Market in Olympic Village, and the studio had a successful bake sale with all proceeds going to the Sun Run Charities! A huge thanks to all of our bakers and good luck to our Framestore & Company 3 Sun Run Team this weekend.

VES Pub Night

It was great to see some of the Framestore VAN Team out at the latest VES Pub Night. These monthly events are the cornerstone of the VES Vancouver Section, providing opportunities for networking and relationship-building among members and industry professionals. Both VES members and non-members are welcome to attend.
