Let the countdown begin…

HBO finally released the long and highly anticipated official trailer for His Dark Materials S3 featuring breathtaking work by our MTL, MUM, and LDN studios. The final season adapts the events of The Amber Spyglass, the third novel in author Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy. The trailer spotlights Lord Asriel returning to the show as he gathers an army including witches and rebel angels to take down the Authority in order to build a new Republic of Heaven. We simply cannot wait until the release!

Hitting all the right notes

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is hitting the US theatre screens TODAY! The singing crocodile that sounds suspiciously like Shawn Mendes is ready to turn New York City upside down. Make sure to get your tickets to see the wonderful work by our MEL studio as soon as possible. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will hit UK theatres on on Friday, 14th October and Australian theatres on Wednesday, 26th December.

Welcome to the world of dreams

Netflix released the official trailer for Slumberland this week starring Jason Momoa and Marlow Barkley. Momoa plays ‘Flip’ an eccentric outlaw on a mission to help a young girl travel through dreams and flee nightmares, in hopes of reuniting with her father. The film is coming to Netflix this Thanksgiving and features work by our MTL, MUM and FPS teams – we can’t wait to see it!

Voyage to the Edge of Imagination

Designed by our Attractions team, in partnership with P&P Projects, London Science Museum has unveiled its most ambitious exhibition yet: Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination. Hailed by The Guardian as “an imagined interstellar voyage which explores connections between science and science fiction on themes including space travel, cyborgs, alien life and threats to humanity”, this immersive adventure places visitors at the heart of an interactive science fiction story. Featuring an Al Guide and new extraterrestrial language devised exclusively for the exhibition, pay a visit from October 6th. Creative Director Gavin Fox and Executive Producer Lauren Anderson attended the official press launch this week, with Gavin giving a presentation about our team’s incredible work. We are working on getting a discount for Framestore employees to attend the exhibition at a discounted rate.

Lexus RZ

Our LA team helped Lexus steer towards an electric future in a new collaboration with Marvel Studios for the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The spot showcases the new 2023 Lexus RZ zooming through the MCU with an all-female Royal Guard.

AEAF Awards

Congratulations to the Shang-Chi team for securing Bronze at the Australian Effects & Animation Festival (AEAF) 2022 in the Feature Film Sequence category!

Asian Academy Awards

The MEL team have also won the National Round of the Asian Academy Awards competition meaning that they will now represent Australia at the Grand Awards in Singapore on December 7th, and Gala Finals & Red Carpet on December 8th. Congratulations!

Christian Manz at Cinemagic Festival

Creative Director, Christian Manz joined Cinemagic Festival for a special career Q&A session with local film and television students this week. He spoke about Framestore’s work on the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films whilst getting the students prepped for their sorting hat ceremony.

Celebrations in MEL

The end of the month was busy for the MEL team, with a Three Thousand Years of Longing screening and a Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile wrap party afterwards. Even though the screening was for Three Thousand Years of Longing, the team could not contain their excitement about the upcoming release of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile especially when Lyle himself made a celebrity appearance. Can you spot the croc?

Animation get together

To take advantage of the last opportunities before winter, the MTL Animation department organised a beer and sangria night on the studio’s rooftop. Consider us jealous!

Department Outing

The Texture department enjoyed a disco vibe after work at the Darling Bowling in MTL. Everyone had a fun-filled time!

Beer Fridays are back for good

The last Beer Friday was packed in MTL! It’s great to see so many of you returning to our classics. The runner team is planning something BIG for next Beer Friday (October 28th). You don’t want to miss it!
