Variety reports that during its first week on Netflix, The Sandman was watched for 127.5 million hours, landing in the No. 1 position on the streamer’s newly released Top 10 rankings. In the week of 8th -14th August, the viewing window marks the series’ second at the top of the chart after its debut last week with 69.5 million hours. Congratulations to the team on their fantastic work! If you haven’t seen the series yet, then maybe the trailer below will persuade you to add it to your next binge weekend.

The Greatest Beer Run Ever
An impossible journey in the name of friendship. The Greatest Beer Run Ever follows the story of Chickie (Zac Efron), who wants to support his friends fighting in Vietnam, so he does something wild—personally brings them American beer. What starts as a well-meaning journey quickly changes Chickie’s life and perspective. The film features work by our amazing team in MEL and premieres on 30th September in theatres and streaming on Apple TV+.
School for Good and Evil
Netflix surprised us with a first look at Michelle Yeoh as Professor Emma Anemone in The School for Good and Evil, coming to Netflix this October! Because there truly is no one better suited to teach beautification. The film features beautiful work by our studios in MTL, MUM, and LDN.
Framestore Pictures Director, Chris Waitt used his comedic chops to bring a team of iconic Kellogg’s mascots and a bespoke chicken character to life for the cereal brand. Our CHI team used 2D sketches and 3D concept art, focusing on model, texture, rig, and lookdev. It’s left us cereal-sly hungry for more!
Cricket Wireless tapped our LA team for their ‘Hall of Switchers‘ campaign, bringing four lovable mascots to life using animation, environment VFX, lighting and rendering, and incorporating live-action interviews.
On Sunday 14th August, the APDG Awards were held in Sydney, where our MEL studio won the WYSIWYG 3D Design Award for their work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Congratulations to Josh Simmonds, Nathan Ortiz and their team for bringing this one home.

VES Vancouver Chapter Update
We’re excited to have three VAN employees on the VES VANBoard. The VAN Board is co-chaired by Mat Krentz (VFX Supervisor), the secretary is Noel Hoffman (Head of Operations), and Sean Wicks (VFX Coordinator) is a VAN Board member. Last week, our Framestorian VES members and visiting guests enjoyed a SIGGRAPH party hosted by the VES VAN branch and sponsored by Netflix. Additionally, the VES Vancouver Board organises monthly pub nights open to both members and non-members. The next VES pub night will be held at Brewhall on September 20th. Be on the lookout for monthly invites in Vancouver so you can attend these VES events.

MTL Summer Party
Our MTL studio celebrated it’s annual summer party at Riverside, including cocktails, tasty food, and a busy dance floor.
It’s the end of the soccer season in MTL. The Framestore team finished 4th in the division and 2nd in the playoffs, our best result yet! After two years off, it’s playing together every week, sharing laughter and championing our team spirit that matters most. Once again, congratulations to our team and thank you to our supporters, a new season awaits you next summer!
Garden of the Year with Andy Salter
Senior Flame Artist, Andy Salter will be on the Garden of the Year show for the first and final episodes, airing Monday 22nd August at 9pm, only on More 4. The six-part series explores some of the most spectacular and surprising home gardens in the country, to find their flourishing favourites and blossoming bests. We wish him good luck on his hunt for fabulous flora!
