The week the King of Dreams returns (5.8.22)

Enter the world of nightmares

The Sandman arrives on Netflix TODAY featuring incredible work by our LDN and MUM studios on Matthew the raven. The series stars a who’s who of British acting, as well as up and coming talent. If you’re planning to binge-watch it this weekend, then it’s probably best to stay off the internet as spoilers start coming in…

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Warner Bros. have released the trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods which includes work by our VAN team. The film continues the story of teenager Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!”, is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam. Bring on the goats

Marvel released a video about the goats Framestore made and used in Method sequences in
Thor: Love and Thunder. Ahhhhh!

Back to school

It’s almost time for kids to step foot into the classroom again, so for Shoe Carnival’s 2022 Back To School campaign Framestore Pictures Director Chris Waitt partnered with McCann Detroit and our Design team on a series of playful spots that unbox what’s possible at the beginning of a new year.

The blue world of Elevance

Health insurance company Elevance tapped Framestore to help share an optimistic and uplifting view of the future of healthcare. Each spot introduces an animated Blue World built out of elegant and intricately folded CG paper, recreating traditional paper craft techniques with modern CG software. The team developed a unique, complex style capable of expanding into vast imaginative future scapes, whilst maintaining the handmade feel and texture of something intimate and finely crafted.

In other news

Ryan Tudhope takes our breath away

On Thursday, our LDN studio had the rare chance to hear all about Top Gun: Maverick‘s brilliant VFX from the film’s production-side VFX Supervisor, Ryan Tudhope. The audience throughly enjoyed the talk and was thrilled get an insight into what it’s like working with Hollywood star Tom Cruise.

Get-together with our new colleagues

Now that almost all Method MTL staff have been onboarded at Framestore, Chloe and Melinka hosted a get-together on the studio’s terrace. This was a great opportunity for everyone to reconnect with colleagues, see the studio, get to meet some of the HODs and Department Managers in person, as well as to learn more about Framestore, our culture, and exciting upcoming projects. We’re so glad to have you onboard!

Game of Burger King

It’s BBQ season and the Layout team in MTL organized a BBQ to figure out who’s the Burger King for good! In an intense battle for the throne between Marwan El Ghazal and Denis Lappos, the jury took several parameters into consideration to decide their king: excellence in meat preparation, patty shape artistry, and creative innovation in seasoning. After a long deliberation, Denis Lappos took the crown, congratulations to the new king!

FC Framestore, now the playoffs!

In the last game of the regular season, our team unfortunately lost 4-3 against Mathematic Studio. The game was tight with our team dominating the whole match with amazing moves, passes and an overall amazing team performance! FC Framestore finishes the regular season in 4th place out of 8. The top four teams move on to the playoffs, so next week we will face the team that is in first place, and that will be Mathematic Studio again! Time for the revenge team!
