The week we welcome a new era (29.4.22)

Things will be great when you’re Downton

Downton Abbey: A New Era arrives in UK cinemas today, featuring some lovely work from VFX Supe Patti Llaguno and the LDN team. If you haven’t been keeping up with the Crawleys, take a look at the trailer and see what’s in store.

To celebrate its release, we get to know the actors a little bit better in a fun-filled game.

And elsewhere, entertainment industry mag Screen International reports that the film will see the second-widest UK opening of all time. It’ll screen at 746 locations – only pipped by No Time To Die (another Framestore title, *cough cough*) and ahead of previous record holder Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Come on Barbie, let’s go party

Warner Bros. confirmed that Barbie hits the big screen on 21 July 2023. Ken you believe it?! Directed by the brilliant Greta Gerwig, the film features a star-studded supporting cast that includes Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu. Talented folk from FPS, LDN and MTL have or will be involved, and we can’t wait to see their work!

The Baby is being delivered

Our LDN team delivered some great work for Sky/HBO’s upcoming TV series The Baby. The first episode was released in the US this week and attracted many glowing reviews. The series is due to be released for its UK audience in July. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet then make sure to check it out below!

New York Lottery

For New York Lottery’s latest campaign celebrating its $1MM Lucky Dog Scratch-Off Series, our NY studio marshalled the performance of a pack of pooches and their flopping tongues. In addition to clean up and beauty work on the dogs and limousine, the team added green foliage to give the scene a feel of summer, comped together takes of the overhead vehicle, and combined multiple shots of the dogs to get the PAW-fect performance.

Awards

Webby Awards

Congrats to our CHI studio on TWO WEBBY Award wins for their work on the OREO x Pokémon limited-edition 25th anniversary cookie campaign! Creative Director Timothy Williams and the animation team were tasked with building the incredible animated film made entirely from thousands of black-and-white “cookie pixels,” taking home a Video Animation (Branded) WEBBY and People’s Voice Award.
