What we’ve been up to
Christmas magic at AEAF
Ian Spendloff (LDN) and Johannes Sambs’ (LDN) presentation on Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey was streamed at AEAF this week. They detailed how the LDN IA team intricately crafted elements for the storybook sequence to look uniquely handcrafted, including the environments and the wooden toy characters.
LIA Awards Jury
It’s good to see our own Exec Producer, Brittney Walker (LA) named as one of this year’s judges for the LIA Awards in the Production & Post-Production and Music Video category. The jurors will cast their eyes over the entries in October, with winners being announced in November.
Juriaan van Vali (LDN) attended Escape Studios’ free summer event, ‘The Summer Of Unreal’ to give a talk on the rendering pipeline of Unreal Engine, including how to check on engine performance. The event is attended by swarms of professionals and educators from across Europe and aims to arm them with real-time animation skills.
Simon Bourne (LDN) adds a touch of colour to Paralympics ‘We Are 15’.
Cast your vote for Framestore
Vote HERE to get Framestore’s panel on the schedule for next year’s SXSW conference. The session, ‘How FIFA Changed the Game on Fighting Knife Crime’, will delve into the innovative technology used to recreate Kiyan Prince virtually as the 30 year old man he would have been today for a powerful anti-knife campaign.
Diversity in Digital Design
Senior Compositor, MacKenzie Parker (NY) is taking part in a panel next week, alongside other advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion. They’ll discuss experiences in their careers and what can be done to help improve their industries. Register here and catch the panel next Wednesday 25th August, 18:30 (LDN).
Taken by Storm
Flamestorm took on Mediacom’s Master Batters. Turns out their batting ain’t so masterful and Framestore pocketed their final win of the season making them the Champions of 2021 London Advertising Softball League. Final score of the game was Flamestorm 29 – 4 Master Batters.
“Special mention to MVPs this week: the entire team! For a historic season going 10-0 undefeated in Division 1!”
MTL Football League
A quick update from across the pond: our MTL team scored two absolute beauties in their most recent game (both by Rigging HOD, Quentin Sanchez). However, unfortunately MPC took the win, placing the Framestore team at #4 in the league. Next up, the playoffs, where they’ll hope to reach the finals. We wish you the best of luck MTL, you’re all winners to us!
