The week we Cannes, and we did (25.06.21)

Cannes Lions Award Winners

It’s another HUUUUGEEE week for Bodyform/ Libresse #WombPainStories, as the campaign goes on to scoop a whopping FOUR Grand Prix’s.

And it doesn’t stop there, the campaign went on to win 1 Gold Lion, 2 Silver Lions and 4 Shortlists for the Health & Wellness Category; 1 Gold, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze Lion under the Film Craft category; 1 Gold Lion under the Communications category; AND a Gold Lion under the Glass: the Lion for Change, which celebrates culture-shifting creativity.

Whew! With (probably) more Lions than London Zoo, a massive bravo to Sharon Lock (LDN) and the team!

Take a look at the work Framestore did on the boundary-smashing #WombStories.

Apple AirPods ‘Bounce’ also took home a Gold and Bronze Lion under the Consumer Durables category; 3 Bronze Lions in the Film Craft category, as well as being shortlisted for both Viral Film and Innovation in Film. Congratulations to VFX Supes Michael Ralla, Steve Drew and the entire LA & NY teams!

Red Notice

THE ROCK, who makes this statue look smaller than it actually is, gives us a sneak peak behind the scenes of upcoming action-comedy-heist film Red Notice (MTL). He claims the film is Netflix’s biggest investment to date and hints towards a release around the Holiday season.

His Dark Materials

His Dark Materials fans will be pleased to know that filming has officially begun for the third season. WHO’S EXCITED?

Dove – MenKind

The LDN IA team worked on this new Dove spot, complete with a professional lick of colour from Simon Bourne (LDN).

Press

Befores&Afters

VFX writer Ian Failes casts our minds to some of our previous press-worthy work. Which let’s be honest, is all of it.

You’ve been [Framed]

This week we meet Jed Fisher (LDN) who recently worked on SHEBA Hope Reef, which has racked up nearly 2.5 million views since going live a month ago. And looks like we’ve got some competition with Lee-Anne Cormier from last week’s [Framed], if Jed ruled the world he’d give us a five day weekend 👀. Read more about Jed here.

Framestormin’ to the finals

This week Framestore played DNEG (boooooo) with the final score: Flamestorm 9 – 0 Double Sluggers. That makes Flamestorm the undefeated winners so far this season!

Special mention for our MVP’s this week: Annie Mitchell for a great debut performance and Florian Boury for an amazing running catch in the outfield!

Montreal Fantasia Festival

MTL, this one’s for you. This year’s MTL-based Fantasia Festival welcomes an in-person screening of The Suicide Squad. The R-rated super-villain extravaganza features characters, environments and buckets of gore courtesy of our LDN and MTL teams – shout out to Jonathan Fawkner (LDN), Adrien Saint Girons (MTL) and their teams for all their amazing work.

That’s it for this week – a reminder that MTL have a public holiday next Friday 2nd July.

If this video’s anything to go by, they’ll probably all still be celebrating the Montreal Canadiens making it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993. Yay sports!
