BAFTA TV Awards

Talk about a team of overachievers – this week both The Crown AND His Dark Materials were nominated for the Special, Visual and Graphic Effects BAFTA TV Craft Award. Congratulations to all the talented LDN, MTL and NY artists who worked on these projects – two shows that beautifully illustrate the diversity of work we deliver at Framestore, from on-point historical drama to the utterly fantastical.


The Tomorrow War

Debuting on Amazon Prime July 2nd, here’s a first-look at sci-fi thriller The Tomorrow War. Our MTL team nailed it on this one, establishing the early action with aeroplanes, aliens, explosions and a whole ruined city.


Cadillac

Our teams in LA and CHI worked to bring the new all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ and environments to life, including animation, lighting and compositing.


IMDB’s Most Anticipated Marvel and DC

IMDB have released the top ten most anticipated upcoming Marvel and DC movies and series based on number of page views. Of these top 20 Framestore projects make up 7 including The Suicide Squad, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and The Sandman.


Paddington 2 tops greatest movies EVER

Our pal Pads has clawed his way to the Rotten Tomatoes top spot and knocked Citizen Kane to 99%. Damn the view’s good from up here.

BBC Click

Hey, I know him! VFX Supe Chris Lawrence was on BBC Click to explain how the team created the breathtaking effects for The Midnight Sky.


Real-Time Conference

Global Real-Time Director Karl Woolley (LDN) kicked off the RTC antics on a panel to to de-myth and demystify virtual production’s tools and terminology. Next up was our CCO Tim Webber, VFX Supe Theo Jones, Lead TD – Engine Grant Bolton, and Realtime Supe Nèstor Prado (LDN) who tackled the future of filmmaking and how it will involve game engines and VFX coming together.

The next day, our CaptureLab Supervisor Richard Graham (LDN) took part in a panel to discuss building pipelines for virtual production that maximise efficiency.


OMD Hack Entertainment

Earlier in the week Karl also took part in a panel discussing how brands can integrate into the ever-changing and growing entertainment sector.
