Oscars? Wild.

Film trade bible Variety has named two Framestore titles as potential contenders for the VFX Oscar – George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky (Netflix) and the epic live-action retelling of Mulan (Disney). Can we be your +1, plz? Give it a read here.

Jingle Jangle

And Director David E. Talbert also shared another short 30 second teaser. If you look really closely you can catch a glimpse of the fully-CG work done by the IA team in London.

Mulan

VFX Supe Hubert Maston (MTL) gives us a taste of how they built the epic environments for Mulan. Read the VFX Voice article here.

What we’re up to

MIPCOM

We sent CCO Tim Webber and MD of Framestore Pre-production Services Alex Webster to Cannes (virtually, of course) for renowned TV festival MIPCOM, where they gave a talk on how specialisms like visualisation, virtual production and VFX can help directors, showrunners and producers overcome Covid-related challenges. While you have to be a festival delegate to watch it (rude) you can, at least look at this tasteful photo…

VIEW again

Tim’s a busy man, we’ll also be hearing from him on ‘The Future of Filmmaking’ at this year’s virtual VIEW conference as well as Global MD, Film, Fiona Walkinshaw who’ll take part in a panel on remote working solutions. Register for the event here
