The week we get to quiz an actual wizard (kind of) (01.05.20)

The Webby Awards

Two Framestore projects have been shortlisted for this year’s @thewebbyawards! The judges are clearly big GoT fans, because both of our nominees hail from Westeros: the ‘Beyond the Wall’ VR experience and ‘The Dead Must Die’ @magicleap experience. Congratulations to everyone involved!

These awards are voted for by the public so we’d love it if you could help us fill up the trophy cabinet by voting here:

Immersive and Mixed Reality – Beyond the Wall // The Dead Must Die

Immersive and Mixed Reality – Volumetric – The Dead Must Die

David Yates Q&A

VFX Supe, Christian Manz (LDN) has worked a little magic and managed to get David Yates (director of the final four Harry Potter films, and Fantastic Beasts) to speak to us for FTV.

Have you got a burning question to ask about the Wizarding World? If so, ACCIO those q’s to christian.manz@framestore.com with ‘DY Q&A’ in the header.

His Dark Materials

To prove that the marketing team hasn’t got trust issues, we handed over the reins of the company twitter account to Russ Dodgson (LDN), who joined last weekend’s His Dark Materials tweet-along with cast and crew.

PRESS
We’re big fans of ‘VFX Artists React…”, so it was great to see Framestore getting some love – the trio were genuinely astounded by the care and detail that we put into His Dark Materials.

Mulan feature

You might not be able to see the film just yet, but our work on Mulan is featured in the latest edition of CINEFEX. Key to the team’s role across 320 shots includes creating the mythical Phoenix, a number of action-packed performances paying homage to Hong-Kong cinema as well as impressive, dreamy landscapes.

Zoomin’ Marvelous

The lines are blurring for VFX Supe, Steve Drew (NY) who was making shot review notes on the town hall this week. Quarantine gets to the best of us, Steve.
