Lionsgate Entertainment World
After three years of hard work from our Immersive teams, this week saw the grand opening of Lionsgate Entertainment World – the world’s first vertical theme park which features the world’s first multi-player interactive VR simulator and the world’s first purpose-built VR roller coaster. That’s a lot of world firsts. Pretty f**king cool, am I right?
Congratulations to the team for completing such an incredibly wide-ranging project. Alongside the stunning environmental media that can be seen throughout the park, Framestore created media that takes advantage of groundbreaking technology for three VR experiences, a motion simulator and a dark ride. There are loads of visuals on the Framestore website for all the rides, with plenty more BTS to come:
- The Twilight Saga‘s immersive motorbike experience ‘Midnight Ride’
- Gods of Egypt ‘Battle for Eternity’ VR roller coaster
- Divergent‘s free-roaming VR experience ‘Dauntless fear simulator‘
- The Hunger Games motion simulator ‘Mockingjay Flight’
- ‘Bella’s Journey’, a dark ride that tells the story of The Twilight Saga
See some exciting footage of the attractions here:
A note to the team..
Kelly Ryner of ThinkWell Group; Framestore’s closest contact on the project took the time to personally thank Framestore for their impressive efforts:
“To everyone at Framestore who has touched this project – THANK YOU for your collaboration and dedication to this project; going above and beyond.”
At the opening ceremony Jenefer Brown from Lionsgate also expressed her overwhelming gratitude to all those involved on the success if the project:
“We [Lionsgate] asked for the moon and the stars, and you gave us a galaxy!”
Michael Croaker, Head of Entertainment for Village Roadshow – who run the day-to-day operation of the theme park – posted on insta as the opening ceremony takes place.

Effects America
Sure, the event took place last month but someone only just got their pictures back from Boots (or maybe that should be Pharmaprix, since we’re talking MTL?). Pictured below is Creature FX TD Russell Lloyd giving a CFX masterclass, alongside some shots of the MTL team’s fresh new recruitment booth…
Launchpad Interns
In the London office last week, our 14 Launchpad Interns embraced the stage to present the development of their personal projects, showcasing some incredibly creative ideas.
To celebrate, HR and the interns went to Bounce for a ping-pong-and-pizza experience. Following some tough prelim rounds, Roger Escola Jane (FX intern) and Amy Hill (Production Intern) were crowned the overall Ping Pong champions. The interns’ final review will be taking place on 23rd August.

It’s all Fun and Games
LDN Summer Party
Blessed with warm weather the LDN office headed to Dinerama, London’s open-air market, for summer drinks and a street food feast.
Team bonding
The FX team in Montreal went on a fun ‘team-building’ expedition and shot each other with bow and arrows. Nothing like a bit of harmless, Hunger Games-style brutality to encourage camaraderie!
National Ice Cream Month
In honour of this day, the LA office took things to the next level with an in-house ice cream parlour right in their very own kitchen.

Happy Birthday to Mr Harry Potter who turned 39 on Wednesday 31st and has graced our screens in reception in both LDN and MTL offices this week.
That’s it for this week. Eat slugs, Malfoy.
