We’re incredibly proud to announce that this year’s 71st Primetime Emmy Awards have recognised our phenomenal work on not one, but TWO of our Immersive Entertainment experiences. Yeah, you heard right. Our work with HBO Game of Thrones Beyond The Wall and National Geographic for Free Solo 360 have been nominated in ‘Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media within a Scripted Program’ and ‘Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media within an Unscripted Program’, respectively.

And last, but definitely not least, is the third nomination for A Great Day in Hollywood in the ‘Outstanding Commercial’ category. The commercial, graded by our very own Beau Leon (LA), features 47 black writers, showrunners, actors and producers, and is part of Netflix’s ‘Strong Black Lead’ program designed to foster ongoing, intentional focus to talk authentically with the black audience.
Broadcast Tech Awards Shortlist
The good news doesn’t stop there. This week we’ve also been shortlisted in Best Use of VR for AMFAM, AND Best Use of AR for Fact or Fantasy for the Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards.
Another huge congrats to all involved in bringing these projects to life.

Universal Studios Hollywood: A roaring success
This week, Universal Studios Hollywood launched Jurassic World – The Ride featuring more than 70 minutes of brilliant media produced by Framestore for visitors to watch while queuing.
You can see plenty of this on several ride aficionados’ YouTube channels with our own marketing activity around the work coming soon.
His Dark Materials
A war is brewing in this brand new extended trailer for His Dark Materials featuring heavy-duty VFX and animation from our teams in LDN and MTL. The trailer was released to great acclaim at Comic-Con this week and it’s looking a m a z i n g.
The Kings Man
Framestore’s film team are busy creating VFX and animation gold for the prequel to the Kingsman films. Have a watch of the brand new trailer released at the beginning of this week.

Workshops

Physio Lucie Ward from Mindfulness in the Workplace visited the LDN office this week to run a workshop on Movement, Posture and Stretching, giving staff an insight into the importance of good posture & the dangers of bad posture.
Brittney Walker hosted a yoga session in the LA office

Also in the LDN office, HR hosted a Brexit Surgery, where our European colleagues could learn more & apply for Settlement Status. For those who wish to find out more on the subject, a Brexit FAQ page is now live on the intranet homepage.

“FlameStorm started strong, ending the innings with a “hold your breath” fumbling catch from short stop, Nik. The 2nd and 3rd innings saw home runs from Mike and Jakub, FlameStorm continued to soar to 16 runs! Tensions rose in the 4th and 5th innings as the opposition gained some confidence with 5 runs in the bag. In the final 2 innings Tbirds scored 0 runs, while FlameStorm buffed up their lead with another 5 runs. Final score: FlameStorm 22 – Twitter Tbirds 8

Allstar Rookie team
This year three of our players, Nicole DeSantis, Saruta Pisanwalerd and Nicolas Sauval (LDN), have been selected for the ‘Allstar Rookie team’ – a team formed of league players by London Advertising Softball League. Once the final team is selected LASL fly them to the US to compete in the 3-day-long Players Tournament and Advertising World Series.
This year the tournament will take place in Orlando, on September 29th. Fingers crossed for our players! See more info here

A tough game for Framestore’s soccer team this week. Here’s how the game went down:
“We were sitting 2nd the standings before this week’s game. We played Method Studios (4th) who are chasing us in the standings this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, they prevail and we lost 3-0. Next week’s game against the top team, MPC, will be important to secure our place in the playoffs.“
