Tribeca Film festival

We’re all over it – the festival features several projects that Framestore’s worked on and celebrates our incredibly varied work from VFX and immersive experiences to colour grades. Here’s a quick overview below.

The Dead Must Die – Game of Thrones
The Magic Leap encounter for GoT will open for a limited time allowing vistors to experience the mixed reality game. It combines mixed reality content with practical, animatronic pieces allowing players to walk through the a set that resembles King’s Landing.

Two/One
The feature film, directed by Juan Cabral will premiere at the festival. Framestore worked on two key sequences, the first being a hyper-realistic ski jump in the film’s climactic scene and the second a super-fine detailed shot of the Earth.

The Boys
Based on the comics by Garth Ennis, The Boys is an eight-part series featuring VFX work by Framestore’s television team. The series will premiere at the festival and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video 23 July.

Interviews

Broadcasters, PBS Vermont came to our studio and interviewed Chloe Grysole about the unique artistic talent in and around Montreal, delving into the thriving VFX industry and the immense work Framestore has been involved in.

They also caught Animator, Gabriel Giroux-Veilleux to find out what his typical day entails, and took a cheeky snap of one of our artists, Daniel. Look out for the story on Qulture website soon!

Meanwhile in LDN, a group of college educators spent a day in the office to attend a series of presentations from various department heads across the company, learning how to better prepare students for work in VFX. Here they are with Andrew Schlussel, Director of Global Talent Development … and our good friend Paddington🐻

Framestore’s got (even more) talent Raising Hands on Apple

Author Pic

Attention all, Hayley Hornibrook (LDN) has written her first novel, AND she’s only gone and got it published. AND she’s sold copies across the world! Hawk Lore: Initiation is the first of three in the Hawk Lore Trilogy. Read the blurb below.

In 1735, the Great Wave hit shores and changed the course of history.
Two hundred years later, a mysterious visitor to the small town of Pryder sets H’atoria Adaraya upon an unexpected path.
In a land where the cleansed earth makes the unimaginable possible,
energy is the currency, sexuality is power, and intuition is key.
Hawk Lore: Initiation is the dark tale of a land run by women.

The calm after the FLAMEstorm

Flamestorm are well and truly back, winning their first game of the season. Here’s what went down in Regent’s Park against Adam&Eve DDB’s Paddington Pirate’s:

“The first innings didn’t go our way but we managed to get some runs on the board to keep us in it. Managing to fight back and take the lead in the second, we batted around the order and made an amazing double play with a catch from Jakub relayed back to 1, we never looked back.

We kept building the runs and after agreeing to stop after 6 innings we came into bat needing just one run to win the game. Playing it safe we loaded the bases and a strong line drive through 3rd and short closed it out.

Final score Adam & Eve “Paddington Pirates” 24 – 26 Framestore 🔥🌩️

This week’s MVP was Nicolas Sauval for 3 home runs and some great work in the outfield. I’d also like to shout out to everyone that’s joined the team in practice and in last nights game I couldn’t ask for more and can tell we’ve got a great season ahead!”

Now, I’m not competitive at all, but SUCK IT Adam&Eve DDB. On to the next win……
